Can thermal imaging find a leak under the floor?
Often yes. Water moving under a floor changes the surface temperature above it, and that shows on the camera. Concrete floors and heavily insulated build-ups can make this harder, so we will say honestly if the reading is unclear.
Do I need a thermal imaging survey or a full building survey?
It depends on why you are asking. Thermal imaging answers a specific question about damp, leaks or heat loss. If you are buying an older property and want the whole condition assessed, a RICS Level 3 building survey is the better fit.
When is the best time of year to do it?
Colder months usually give the clearest results, because the difference between inside and outside temperatures is greater. We can survey at any time of year, and we will set up conditions on site to get a reliable reading.
